Mirrored sunglasses set an image.  For tiny babies and small children the image is of someone who looks lovingly at them as proven by the reflection they see.  For older kids it is an image of being cool and mysterious.  For older people it is pretty hard to say why they wear mirrored sunglasses.

Motorcycle riders seem to wear them often, but I am reluctant to say that they are striving to appear either cool or mysterious.  I imagine that they have well developed senses of self and are not worried if strangers think they have a cool fashion sense.   I also doubt if they work to hard at being mysterious.  So I am guessing that they just follow the crowd that they think they are part of.  Gamblers never wear mirrored sunglasses.  Even though they are proud of their ability to conceal their thoughts from their opponents, they are also aware that the mirrored reflection could reveal their cards.

As a result of these opinions, I will guess that the image that adults want to project while wearing mirrored glasses is that they have a terrific sense of humor or they were able to buy them at a terrific price.  Or maybe I should just buy a pair of wholesale sunglasses and see if I change my mind.
